In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness
month, the members of the P.in.K Club wanted to not only raise money to
help victims of this disease but also to raise awareness. Students
accomplished this by reading facts about breast cancer as well as
leading prayers over the loud speaker for one week in October. In
addition, club members encouraged their fellow classmates to wear the
color pink to show support. With permission granted from Sister Donna,
students held a bake sale and sold hats that were allowed to be worn
every day in school during the month of October. Thanks to everyone’s
generous donations the members of P.inK. raised $625.
The
P.in.K executive board recently visited St. Peter’s Hospital to donate
the proceeds. The girls were given a tour of the breast cancer center
and were shown how the money would be used to help women who cannot
afford mammograms.
As a community, it is
imperative that we come together and support such an important cause and
we are very proud of not only these club members but Bishop Ahr as a
whole for bringing awareness!
