Bishop Checchio Delivers Food with BGAHS Students
Posted on 11/22/2017
The Bishop George Ahr High School family showed once again how big its heart is with an outpouring of donations for Thanksgiving.

Approximately 120 turkeys were collected and donated to FISH in Piscataway.  On Wednesday, November 15th and Thursday, November 16th, Maintenance employee George Dietz, Sister Cynthia, and BGAHS Seniors Julia Hauss and Jude Roche delivered the frozen turkeys to FISH. The volunteers at FISH were so happy to see them with the frozen birds! There were people waiting in line as early as 6:30 a.m. to receive the much-needed Thanksgiving food. It is so heartwarming to know that we were able to help them!

On Monday, November 20th, a group of 16 BGAHS Seniors accompanied by Sister Cynthia, Mr. John Roche, and Mr. Kevin McCarthy traveled to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank in Perth Amboy, NJ to pack food bags and give out food to the poor.  The BGAHS students donated much of the food used for packing the bags.

Joining the BGAHS crew and the Vincentians at the Food Pantry was Bishop James Checchio, who spoke kindly and compassionately to the volunteers and to the clients, bringing a smile to everyone’s face. Bishop Checchio and the BGAHS volunteers were truly the Face of God to everyone at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry!
Thanksgiving is better this year for many area families because of the generous hearts of the Bishop Ahr High School Family! Thank you and God Bless you!
