A Lesson in Forensic Botany
Posted on 11/19/2016
Mr. Mulvihill's Forensic Science class recently explored forensic botany by investigating the plants around Bishop Ahr High School. The goal was to teach them plant identification techniques and plant preservation methods. Forensic botany is an area of specialty science that includes classification of species, materials evidence (trace and transfer evidence), crime mapping, and geo-sourcing. Critical skills learned in this lab included careful collection, documentation, and preservation for later scientific analysis. The pressed flowers should be ready in a few weeks.
