On this Veteran’s Day, the Bishop Ahr
community honored United States veterans both living and deceased as
well as the many BGA alumni who have served in the armed forces in order
to protect the freedoms of all American citizens.
During
homeroom, students and faculty prayed for our veterans while Mr. Joseph
Cullinan played Taps on the trumpet. The service was led by BGA’s In
Harm’s Way Club, which is advised by Mr. Nick Tonzola, its members,
former staff member Master Sargent Gary Pacciano of the US Army, and BGA
alumnus Petty Officer Alan Bridges of the US Navy.
Mr.
Tonzola, Mr. Gary Pacciano, and the students of the In Harm's Way Club
then took part in a Veteran's Day service at Genesis Healthcare in
Plainfield, NJ, which included a rendition of America the Beautiful
performed by Senior Courtney McQuade on the bagpipes.
As
a community, we pray that we may never forget what our country has
asked of them and what they have given in return. We also ask for the
resolve to build a world in which war will be pursued no more.
