Bishop Checchio Accompanies Students to Deliver Thanksgiving Food
Posted on 11/22/2016

The Bishop Ahr High School family showed once again how big their hearts are with the outpouring of donations for Thanksgiving.

Approximately 100 turkeys were collected and donated to FISH in Piscataway. On Wednesday, November 16 and Thursday, November 17, George Dietz of maintenance, Sister Cynthia and a great crew of BGA students delivered the frozen turkeys to FISH. The volunteers at FISH were so happy to see them with the frozen birds! There were so many people already waiting in line to receive their thanksgiving food. It is so heartwarming to know that we were able to help them!

Monday, November 21st a group of BGA seniors accompanied by Sister Cynthia, Father Keith Cervine and Deacon Rich Lutomski traveled to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank, Perth Amboy, NJ to back food bags and give out food to the poor. The BGA students donated much of the food used for packing the bags.

Joining the BGA crew and the Vincentians at the Food Pantry was Bishop James Checchio. Speaking so kindly and compassionately to the volunteers and to the clients, brought a smile to everyone’s face. Bishop Checchio and the Bishop Ahr High School volunteers were truly the Face of God to everyone at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry!
