“Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity” - 1 Timothy, 4:12.

On Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen, NJ, Bishop James Checchio bestowed the St. Timothy Award and the St. Teresa of Calcutta Award to young adults in the Metuchen Diocese.
Among those were five students from Bishop Ahr High School:  Krystyna Ebert, Andrew Michael, Robert Ammiano, Katie Schilp, and Jude Roche. Krystyna Ebert and Andrew Michael were nominated by Bishop Ahr High School and Robert Ammiano, Katie Schilp, and Jude Roche were nominated by their home parishes. Each student expressed what a great honor it was to receive this distinction. Katie said that she was impressed by how many students in the Diocese were so involved in service. Krystyna noted that hearing about all of the other recipients’ projects made her understand how much of an impact one person’s service can have. Bobby summed up everyone’s thoughts by saying, “We can’t wait to continue serving others at my parish and at BGA.”

The young adults who received the St. Timothy award were nominated by their school/parish because they have shown leadership, are actively involved, live as a disciple of Christ, set a positive example for other youth, and demonstrate Gospel values through spirituality, prayer, and service to others.

Five of the young adults from the Diocese who received the St. Timothy Award also received the St. Teresa of Calcutta Award. These words of St. Teresa: “Do ordinary things with extraordinary love,” are the inspiration for this award. Those who received this award live their lives as a disciple of Christ, set a positive example for others, witness their faith by exhibiting Catholic morals and integrity, demonstrate Gospel values through service to others, and exhibit Christian leadership in their parish, school and community. Andrew Michael, a Bishop Ahr senior, was one of the five who received the St. Teresa of Calcutta Award.
Congratulations to these inspiring young adults!
